Growth Feels Better When You Know Why You’re Doing It

Hey you,

I’ve been thinking a lot this week about balance—between effort and ease, structure and flexibility, documenting life and actually living it. This week felt like one of those quiet leveling-up weeks where nothing flashy happened, but everything meaningful moved forward.

pst…. I made a hat. Want one? sneak peak…

One Thing to Think About This Week

The biggest thing that stuck with me is how connected everything really is—breath, mindset, effort, patience, and progress. A huge part of the joy on this journey has been understanding why things matter, not just doing them. Breathwork isn’t just breathing. Meditation isn’t just sitting still. Running isn’t just physical movement. When you understand the why behind these practices—how breath calms the nervous system, how meditation trains focus, how running builds resilience far beyond your legs—the impact goes deeper and becomes more meaningful. That’s what’s making this season so fun for me. I’m not just showing up, I’m learning, and that learning changes everything.

Celebrate Your Wins

  • Stayed consistent with Miracle Morning, Dig In and running while allowing flexibility without guilt
  • Completed Phase One of the Dig In program and honored running as the current top fitness priority
  • Chose presence over perfection by intentionally trading a workout for quality time with Madison
  • Rebuilt momentum without burnout by focusing on what actually matters most right now
  • I ran 12 freaking miles on Saturday. AHHH. Half marathon pace, half conversational pace

Productivity Hack of the Week

I’ve been leaning heavily into Notion paired with widgets and keeping it simple has been the secret. Notion works best when it’s a capture tool, not a construction project. I use a quick-capture widget on my phone to dump ideas, content notes, recipes—anything that pops up—so my brain doesn’t have to hold onto it. I also built a dedicated Miracle Morning page with direct links to meditation playlists, breathwork videos and movement options so I don’t waste time deciding what to do. Wake up, click, go. Momentum loves simplicity.

What I’m Into This Week

  • Podcast: The Diary of a CEO with James Clear. If you’ve ever read or loved Atomic Habits, this episode is a must—simple reminders, powerful framing, zero fluff.
  • App: Notion, especially paired with iPhone widgets. It’s made my mornings feel frictionless.
  • Documentary: Taylor Swift - I know, that seems like an odd suggestion but hear me out… The way her brain can think so deepy and so far in the future. Her depth of gratitude is so inspiring.

Life Snapshot

  • We officially tried a professional babysitter for the first time in almost two years—excited and nervous was the best way. Did L have a breakdown in his crib? Yes. Yes he did but the sitter calmed him down and all was well.
  • Mornings with Ledger include toast inspections, messy egg cracking, and making breakfast together
  • We were at our fave weekend food truck spot over the weekend and ran into friends. Ledger and Ridge played together running round owning the place. It was magical watching them enjoy their time and laugh together

One Last Thing

Start smaller than you think you need to. One habit. One run. One breath. Growth doesn’t need to be aggressive to be powerful—it just needs to be consistent.

Fun P.S.

Mornings and nights with Ledger have turned into our favorite little routines. Breakfast usually involves toast inspections, messy egg cracking and him insisting on eating in his stand instead of his chair. At night, he’s all about lotion duty, filling the humidifier and squeezing in “one more” book (about twenty times). Watching him mirror everything we do is chaotic, hilarious and hands-down the best part of the day.

Closing

As you head into the new week, remember this: progress feels lighter and more sustainable when you understand why you’re doing what you’re doing. Breathwork isn’t just a task. Meditation isn’t just quiet time. Movement isn’t just exercise. When you learn how these things support your body, your mind and your future self, they stop feeling like obligations and start feeling like gifts. Stay curious. Start small. Keep showing up with intention.

I’m really glad you’re here, and I’m cheering you on as you build a week that actually feels good to live.

Hey you, January came in hot. Like “testing every system you thought was solid” kind of hot. Flu. Ice storms. Daycare closures. Travel. Early mornings. A knee that decided to speak up at the worst possible time. And yet… here we are. Fourteen days out from my first marathon. Still standing. Still trying. Still adjusting. This week was less about crushing goals and more about staying regulated, present and committed, even when the plan kept changing. One Thing to Think About This Week Progress...

Hey you, I’m writing this one from a week that asked for a little extra preparation, a little more patience and a lot of mental uhh flexibility. The kind of week where you don’t force productivity, but you support yourself through it. Let’s get into it. One Thing to Think About This Week Preparation isn’t fear. It’s care. This week reminded me that being prepared doesn’t mean you’re panicking, it means you’re paying attention. Whether it’s researching generators (cuz we did that), worrying...

Hey you, This week was a reminder that life doesn’t always follow the plan we set on January 1st. Sometimes you’re ready to go hard… and instead, you’re forced to slow way down. And least, that’s exactly what happened over here. One Thing to Think About This Week I had one of those quiet realizations while dropping Ledger off at daycare. The teachers were so excited to see him again after winter break. He was excited. And I realized, getting out of the house in the morning matters way more...
