Jogging Strollers, Transparency and Trying Again

Hey you,

This week was a bit of everything—family chaos, coffee runs, jogging stroller drama, and a much-needed reset with myself. I learned (again) that sometimes, the biggest shifts start with the smallest frustrations… or in my case, a $20 Facebook Marketplace fail.

Let’s reset, shall we?

One Thing to Think About This Week

Transparency matters.

At work, I caught myself typing something based on assumptions—and deleted it. I paused. Asked the right question. Dug deeper. And that moment reminded me: the easy answer isn’t always the right one.

This applies to life too. Are you being honest with yourself about how things are going? Where you’re headed? What you’re avoiding?

Transparency isn’t just a work thing—it’s a self thing.

Celebrate Your Wins

  • 🍼 Took Ledger on multiple stroller adventures (even if they started out sketchy 😂).
  • 🎉 Celebrated my birthday surrounded by people I love, cold coffee, ice baths, and babies everywhere.
  • 📚 Joined a leadership book club at work and said yes to being stretched. (Hello, Radical Candor.)

Productivity Hack of the Week

Google Images + comment sections = underrated problem solvers.

I was about to lose it trying to fix a “previously enjoyed” jogging stroller I just bought… then stumbled onto the exact solution from someone in the comments.

It was tucked away in a comment of a video I found by using the Google Lens feature in the Google App. You can search things based on a photo you took.

Moral of the story: before tossing something out (physically or mentally), try searching smarter.

What I’m Into This Week

  • Book: Radical Candor by Kim Scott (starting it this month for a leadership book club—already seeing ways it could improve how I give and receive feedback).
  • Google App: Use the Google Lens feature when you need help with something physically in your presence.
  • Podcast: Rob Dial - Get short mindset podcast episodes I listened to while running.

Life Snapshot

  • Personal Wins: Got back into a rhythm with walks/jogs using our new jogging stroller setup. Not perfect, but movement happened (stroller is so old it has a phone holder for basically the first gen iPhone).
  • Family Moments: Spending time with Madison and Ledger out at random places has become part of our weekly routine and it fills my cup.
  • Real-Life Relatability: I skipped a morning workout. Talked myself into sleeping in. Then felt the guilt. Again. But I’m learning to let the moment pass and try again. That is the work.

One Last Thing

Madison and I got a bit…. transparent this week about how I haven’t been living up to the bar I’ve set for myself. The bar i've set is so high, but i've been there before. It's all about finding the place you can be while navigating your current circumstances. I look at it like a number one selling album. Was that stage of your life just a 1 hit wonder, or are you capable of hitting that bar when seasons change?

It’s wild looking back at your week(s) and realizing, I’ve been letting work, lack of sleep, and stress take more from me than they deserve. But this week reminded me: when you know better, you can start doing better.

New goal is to stop letting tasks steal my joy. Awareness is key. You see it. You feel it. Now choose to change it. Or don't..... and sit with that reality.

Fun P.S.

We had dinner with friends who also have babies, and it felt like the most refreshing thing. When I say “refreshing”, I actually mean, unfinished stories, 5 second random conversations that get cut off, a confused server, a spilled drink, wet shorts and a birthday cookie cake only one kid ate. But, just hanging with other parents, swapping snacks and stories, and letting the chaos be part of the fun was actually so joyful.

P.P.S. My latest Podcast episode is out. This one is very special because we get to learn about Alex and his journey. He is walking over 2,500 miles from Austin to Oregon to the place his best friend took his life. You can find out how you can follow his journey or support the cause in the video description.

Hey you, This week was heavy in the best way. Competing in DEKA Fit, watching Alex Bradley walk across the country, and feeling Papa John’s presence in our home—all reminded me: sometimes showing up feels like surrender, but it’s actually strength. One Thing to Think About This Week What does surrender mean to you? In DEKA Fit, my mind spun: why’d I sign up, this is dumb, halfway is too far… but by the end, I felt proud, strong, and grateful for my team. Then I watched the BPN Documentary:...

Hey you, This week was a mix of ordinary routines and big reminders. Mom and Kevin left Monday, and it was back to business as usual. Ledger had his 15-month appointment — still in the 90th percentile, still growing like a champ. Watching him learn is like playing Mario Brothers: level up, try the new thing, and occasionally need a distraction before the tantrum boss battle. That got me thinking… maybe that’s all life really is. Distractions, little to-dos, leveling up, and remembering the...

Hey you, This week was about presence. My mom and stepdad Kevin came into town for my mom’s birthday, and we kept it simple: family time, good food, pool hangs, and a lot of being where our feet were. No big agendas, just slowing down and enjoying life together. Phones down. More living, less scrolling. That was the goal. One Thing to Think About This Week If you’re not here, you’re there. We all know how easy it is to drift out of the moment, but this weekend we tried to really make a point...
