Hey you, This week was a mix of ordinary routines and big reminders. Mom and Kevin left Monday, and it was back to business as usual. Ledger had his 15-month appointment — still in the 90th percentile, still growing like a champ. Watching him learn is like playing Mario Brothers: level up, try the new thing, and occasionally need a distraction before the tantrum boss battle. That got me thinking… maybe that’s all life really is. Distractions, little to-dos, leveling up, and remembering the right things at the right time. Our attention span is trash. You open your phone to add toilet paper to your grocery list, and suddenly you’re watching dog videos. Three days later, you’re cursing yourself in the bathroom. Instead of letting distractions win, build a system that works for you. For me, it’s my to-do list. Not just tasks, but birthdays, quotes, lessons, things I don’t want to lose. It’s not about the tool — it’s about giving your brain permission to remember later. Celebrate Your Wins I finally did it — took Ledger down to Lady Bird Lake and walked/jogged 3 miles. The drive and logistics were my mental roadblock, but once we were out there? Magical. Sweaty, but magical. Sometimes the path isn’t the problem — it’s overthinking the path. Try the “Today & Someday” system. I use TickTick, but you can use Notes, Reminders, whatever.
What I’m Into This Week
Ledger’s memory blows me away — he sees something once and wants to do it. He’s teaching me that distraction isn’t always bad. Sometimes it’s just redirection. Instead of “no, not the dog’s water bowl,” it’s “hey, let’s sweep the floor.” That tiny shift works in parenting and life. One Last Thing School gave us structure. Clear assignments, quarters, semesters. But adulthood? They just hand you the keys and say, “Go fulfill your dreams.” No structure, no checkpoints. And then we wonder why we procrastinate. That’s why community, coaches, and support systems matter. You weren’t designed to do this alone. Walking/Jogging with Ledger around Lady Bird was so much fun. Watching him point and say “doggy!” Or “Wa-wa!” Multiple times was the best. He made so many people smile or giggle along the way. Watching him see things for the first time was pure magic. Presence is so powerful. Be where your feet are! If anything stuck with you this week, it’s this: stop trying to do it all solo. Find your checkpoints, build your community, and don’t be afraid to ask for support. 👉 If you’ve been trying to level up alone and it’s not working, reply to this email. Let’s chat about what kind of structure and support could make all the difference for you. Hey you, This week was a mix of wins, lessons, and a little bit of chaos — just how I like it. I got promoted at work (still riding that high 🙌), crushed a 6-mile run I was so close to skipping, and had one of those simple, joy-filled moments that reminded me what all this “balance” stuff is about. We stopped by our neighbor’s house before a community event, and Ledger met their dog, Denver. They became instant best friends — running around, laughing, playing fetch. He hasn’t had a fetch...
Hey you, I did a thing. I registered for the Austin Marathon. Blame (thank!) Zane hyping me up, the video of the 80-year-old Ironman finisher, my neighbor reminding me you can walk-jog it, and my bestie Mike saying he’ll run it at my pace if he’s free. 🥹 Community is everything—and honestly, it’s why I fell in love with running in the first place. Also… Mads started running too. Heart = full. One Thing to Think About This Week Borrowed belief is still belief. When your own motivation dips,...
Hey you, We’re back home in Austin, Texas. We got in last night around 7:30 p.m.—too late to see Ledger before bed—but we got our morning snuggles in today, and that alone made the whole trip worth it. This week was all about family, celebration, and a little bit of altitude-induced humility. We flew to Colorado Springs for my cousin’s wedding, where I had the honor of being a groomswoman. One Thing to Think About This Week Weddings always remind me of what really matters—connection,...
